Westside Park Advisory Comm update: discussion recently has centered around access points and spur trails into GP and southside access as well as naming of the park and fundraising and philanthropy also should we do a Friends group for the Westside Park or a high profile nonprofit with that as its sole focus. Community wide meeting is scheduled for October 23rd at GP Recreation Ctr  

Good News FOGP submitted a application for a small change grant thru Park Pride and we were approved to put a community message board to reach residents and park users to expand our reach to people NOT engaged with GPNA

JL MS is hosted its first 5K Freedom Run this fundraiser is to help fund end of year school trips including international travel. PLease support the 5K is $35 per participant  

Focus: is Literacy throughout the Douglas Cluster which is STEM Cluster student are broken up into 3 Colleges 1.SUMMiTT (others were not mentioned) students have individual devices for homework and classwork

Grove Park Theater Update  T.Watkins   

Grove theater opened in 1941 and are in the process of rehabing this historic building. We hired arcitect the evaluate building which was deemed structurally sound however needed at new roof to protect it.   

GPF was awarded a grant to replace the roof in 2019. Now efforts are being made to determine what and how the building would best be used. That process includes identifiying tenants, and a financing structures. Interim plans are to gathering ideas on artistic special event uses. Contact twatkins@groveparkfoundation.org

Q: What specifcally are we talking about  

Q: Why are we still talking about parking   

Q: Will there be a copy of the slides  

A: Yes  

Q: Has a transportation plan around the park been done? How can we have a convo about parking when we don’t know what the demand is going to be?  

F: MARTA, City Planning, DOT should be at the table to address these issues  

Q: Is anyone thinking about access for patrons to use rideshare 

A: Yes it is in the plan for Johnson Rd

Owner would like to spilt property for a 2 home sub-division which the owner would like to sell to developer to biuld on est cost 300K   

Alcohol License/Change of Ownership for Food Mart DLH        T.Austin 

We are requesting the body vote and send recommendation to NPU-J as a general body vote  

The body asked to invite new ownership to come present plans for improvements and public safety before NPU-J takes a vote on change of ownership

Bylaws and revisions were presented to the body and reviewed for the general body  

Discussions Points:  

Q: Will we extend term limits?  A: motion can be made from the floor  

Motion for Discussion J.Bussey to consider extending term limits  

Q: Can current members serve in a different role A: Yes 

Q: We the current board members continue lending support to GPNA (Leah L) 

Comments: It’s a good idea for us to have a better transition plan so it’s not a shock to the orgs momentum 

Comments:   My concern if this is all happening with the next month. We don’t know ahead of time who planning to run for what positions this makes it hard to make informed decision (K. Jeter) 

Comments: Would board members now be willing to say weather they intend to run again?

Comments: We should think about separating the conversation re: term limits (bylaws) and upcoming elections  

Comments: We should NOT change bylaws right before the election because the issues are being conflated  

Motion: To delay/table bylaws revisions and hold special election in 2020 regular elections will happen in Nov as planned
