Grove Park Neighborhood Association

January 2019

Welcome/State of the Neighborhood Address  T.Austin

Kwanzaa Hall was our Proctor Creek Greenway liaison with the COA. From our understanding his job was to help build infrastructure provide access and opportunities for residents as well as economic development to its bordering communities. It has been determined that he was hired by someone (unidentified) did not fall within protocol for the length of time he needed to be separated from his public office as City Council Rep to return as a city position. He is no longer functioning in that capacity. We have had several meetings with Kwanzaa as a community and I myself representing as GPNA President. As of today we have no one overseeing PCG interest.

We took steps to expand growth parts borders and we were approved for that expansion. The executive board made a decision to try to expand Grove Park boundaries to cover the Overlook and Quarry Yards area along with Bellwood Quarry Park adjacent to the Bankhead Marta station. This area was unincorporated NPU-J made up of mostly warehouses and industrial land which will soon be re-developed into residential housing, retail and offices as part of a transit oriented development project

Presidents Call to Action 2019

Expand the neighborhood associations reach to some of our bordering streets. Grove Park Challenge and greatest asset is it size. Our borders extending from  Johnson/Hollywood to Super Food Giant all the way to Bank of America that is 2 inland to Bankhead MARTA. My goal is to establish a plan for engaging and activating those neighbors and legacy residents to be a part our work on behalf of this neighborhood.

Active Membership is important please consider joining GPNA at $40 per household (more to come during Committee reports)
